Solo Vaporizer Review

Arizer’s Solo is a Canadian made portable vaporizer that fits in your pocket and works like a charm. Easy to use, lightweight, cordless, and made from glass instead of plastic, this portable diffuser is one mean vaporizing machine. The internal lithium-ion battery provides 1 – 2 hours of continuous vapor production before requiring a recharge and seven preset temperature settings allow for a wide variety of blends to be vaporized. Two glass diffusing tubes — also known as the stems, mouthpieces, and whips — and a potpourri dish are included with every purchase and allow for it to be used as a direct draw system and for ambient aromatherapy. What makes this handheld one of the best is the high quality and consistency of the vapor it produces, which is surprisingly comparable to high-end desktop/plugin vaporizers.

Solo Temperature Spectrum

The Solo offers a relatively broad temperature spectrum for use with a variety of blends. While there are 7 preset temperatures to choose from, it’s the third temperature setting — Level 3 @ 374 degrees Fahrenheit, which takes roughly 1 minute and 10 seconds to achieve — that we prefer to use when vaporizing with this device. Here are the different temperature settings and corresponding warm-up times:

  • Level 1 – 122°F / 50°C – 15 seconds
  • Level 2 – 365°F / 185°C – 1 minute
  • Level 3 – 374°F / 190°C – 1 minute 10 seconds
  • Level 4 – 383°F / 195°C – 1 minute 30 seconds
  • Level 5 – 393°F / 200°C – 1 minute 50 seconds
  • Level 6 – 401°F / 205°C – 2 minutes 10 seconds
  • Level 7 – 410°F / 210°C – 2 minutes 30 seconds

Weight, Size, & Power

A bit heavier than some of the other portables, but not too heavy, the Solo weighs in at 8.3 ounces or 230 grams. At 4.5 inches tall and 1.75 inches in diameter, the Solo isn’t exactly the smallest portable vaporizer in the world, but it is compact enough for what we would imagine is most pockets. The internal lithium-ion battery is rechargeable and provides anywhere from 1 to 2 hours of continuous vaporization before requiring a recharge. It takes about 4 hours to completely recharge the battery. For reference, this should be enough nonstop vapor production for an individual to periodically vape throughout the day and come night, it’s easy enough to plug it into the charger and rest while it recharges the battery. For us, the unit cycles quite well as a personal vaporizer.

How To Use Solo

If you’re wondering how to use the Solo vaporizer, it’s actually quite simple. Assuming the battery is adequately charged, you simply press and hold both of the temperature adjustment buttons at the same time until you hear a beeping noise indicating that the device has been powered on. After which point you can adjust the temperature up and down through levels one and seven to find your desired vaporizing temperature. For the most part, we prefer to use levels two and three. Loading the blend is relatively straightforward, as you simply remove the heating chamber lid/cap and fill the oven with your finely ground blend. Next, insert the stem of your choice and begin taking draws once the desired temperature level has been reached.

Checking The Battery Life: Easy enough to accomplish, simply turn the unit on and the lights will flash. The lights will either be fully lit up or partially lit; this being an indicator of the battery status. The more lights that are on, the more juice you have to vaporize.

Arizer Solo Vaporizer Tips

If there’s one little trick that everyone should employ, it’s the insertion of an additional mesh screen into the mouthpiece. While there is an internal glass screen built directly into the mouthpieces, the diameter of the holes in the screen are too large and subsequently allow finely ground bits and pieces of the blend to pass through. If you can’t find a screen that fits perfect, simply take one larger and cut it to size with scissors. Those who prefer to not insert a screen will likely find it suitable to lightly grind their material, as to avoid creating particles small enough to pass through the built-in filter. For those of you who are always on the move, we suggest taking advantage of the optional car charger accessory.

The Solo utilizes a ceramic heating plate (covered by a lifetime warranty) and borosilicate bowl to heat the blend. The exterior shell is constructed of a sturdy aluminum that’s available in two colors: black and silver. Mouthpieces are made from glass and are available in two distinct styles: straight and bent. Potpourri dishes, also known as aromatherapy bowls, are made from glass. An automatic shut-off feature powers down the device after idling for 12 minutes. This portable by Arizer does not feel like a cheap vaporizer, as it actually feels quite solid when held in one hand.

What It Comes With

When you buy the Solo Arizer, it comes with a couple of diffusing tubes (mouthpieces), an aromatherapy sample, potpourri dish, A/C battery charger designed to plug into a wall outlet, and instructions. Here’s an easy to read the list of what’s included with every purchase:

How To Clean Solo Vaporizer

Maintaining this handheld vape is extremely easy. Unlike the Pax Ploom, it doesn’t require constant maintenance. There are no lubricants to apply and no need for special cleaning supplies. A simple bottle of Isopropyl alcohol is all you need to clean the diffuser tubes. The tubes, also known as the mouthpieces, are made from glass and can be soaked in rubbing alcohol, rinsed with water, and allowed to dry to complete the cleaning process. While we have yet to find it necessary, the heating chamber is easily cleaned using a wire cleaning brush with tough plastic bristles.

Solo Warranty

The Solo is covered by a two-year manufacturer’s warranty which is restricted to normal use. The high quality ceramic heating element is backed by a lifetime warranty and the lithium battery is covered by a one year warranty. Always check with the manufacturer at the time of purchase for the most accurate and up-to-date warranty information.
