Palm Vaporizer Review

The Palm is a U.S.-manufactured portable vaporizer which was first introduced to the market back in 2012. It’s a direct draw system that relies on a single AA battery to power its ceramic heating element, which is calibrated to operate at a temperature of 380°F. They’re cheap, compact, lightweight, cordless, capable of heating up in 5 to 10 seconds, come in a variety of colors.

Palm Vaporizer Flavored Tips

Much like the original VaporBlunt, Palm vaporizers offer optionally flavored mouthpiece tips to enhance the flavor of your blend. VaporBlunt Flavor Tips, as they’re called, are made from patented flavor-infused plastic which is FDA approved. At the time of writing this review, the flavored tips are available in four distinct flavors; this is in addition to the standard, flavorless, tips. The following is the four individual flavors that the Palm mouthpiece tips are available in:

– Mint
– Orange
– Raspberry
– Grape

 Palm Vaporizer 2.0

Near the end of 2012, VaporBlunt Inc. took it upon themselves to release a redesigned variant of the Palm which they labeled version 2.0. This second installment of the Palm is more compact than its predecessor, making it even more portable than before! The reduced length aside, they’re basically the same as the original.

Palm Vaporizer Temperature

The heating element contained within the Palm is calibrated to maintain an internal vaporizing temperature of 380 degrees Fahrenheit. Without multiple preset temperatures to choose from, adjusting the temperature takes some getting used to. Regulating the rate at which you pulsate the battery and draw vapor through the device allows you to regulate the temperature in a manual fashion.

 Weight, Size, & Power

With the battery inserted, the Palm 1.0 weighs only 2.4 ounces. It measures 4-3/8″ (L) x 1-1/8″ (W) x 1-1/2″ (H); easily small enough to slip into most pockets. Rechargeable nickel hybrid batteries, 2000mAh or higher and peeled, are used to power the device. A set of two batteries and a wall charger are provided with every purchase and it only requires one battery to operate for an average of 25-30 minutes of continuous vaporization. Using batteries other than those provided is not suggested, as the device is designed to utilize a specific type of battery. Additional batteries can be purchased from a variety of retailers and we highly suggest doing so if you’re intent on frequently using this device, as it takes roughly 2 to 3 hours to recharge a battery with the provided charger. Lightweight, small, and battery powered makes this pocket vaporizer one of the most portable available at the time this review was constructed. The rechargeable batteries are used to power a ceramic heating element which is capable of rapidly achieving vaporizing temperatures.

 How To Use Palm

Using this device is straightforward. Load your blend by lifting the transparent lid and loading your finely ground blend onto the screen. Next, replace the lid and insert a fully charged battery into the appropriate port. Once the battery has been inserted, simply press and hold the battery in. We prefer to wait until vapor appears visible through the closed lid. At this point, we tend to release pressure from the battery, as to lose contact and subsequently turn the power off. From here, we tend to pulsate the battery by pressing it in and releasing it over and over throughout the vaporizing process. After one to two draws, we tend to disengage the battery and stir the contents of our blend, as this helps vaporize the contents in a more efficient manner than were you to not. While this might seem complicated, we assure you that using this device is actually quite simple and shouldn’t take much time to get used to. We’d like to take the time to note that our own in-house testing of the Palm vaporizer has lead us to believe that this unit is indeed capable of burning your blend when the battery is left engaged for an extended period of time. For this reason, we highly suggest learning to take advantage of the pulse method outlined above.

Construction

The exterior shell is composed of a polycarbonate which is lightweight and durable. The air path is glass, however, don’t take this to imply that it’s an all-glass vapor pathway, as this is simply not the case. The unique screen used in the device is can be replaced with a bit of effort; often requiring tweezers to remove. The mouthpiece tips can be removed, replaced, and come in a both a flavored as well as a standard (non-flavored) style. The tips are easy to remove and replace and every purchase comes with both.

What It Comes With

Every purchase should come with a couple of peeled AA rechargeable NiMh batteries with end-cap protectors, a 2-battery capacity charger that plugs into a wall outlet, instructions/manual, one normal mouthpiece tip, and one flavored mouthpiece tip. To reiterate what it comes with an easy to read format, here’s a list:

  • 1 x Palm Vape
  • 2 x NiMh Batteries
  • 2 x Battery End Caps
  • 1 x Normal Mouthpiece Tip
  • 1 x Flavored Mouthpiece Tip
  • 1 x Palm Vaporizer Charger
  • 1 x Instructions

Palm Warranty

While the unit itself is covered by a lifetime manufacturer’s warranty (restricted to “normal” use), the batteries provided are only covered by a 3-month warranty.
